A wall-mounted air conditioning unit installed high on a living room wall

Air conditioning for year-round comfort

Wall-mounted and multi-split systems that keep rooms cool in summer and warm in winter - installed, serviced and repaired by our local team.

Cool summers, comfortable winters

UK summers are getting warmer, and rooms that overheat can make working, sleeping and relaxing difficult. A modern air conditioning system keeps you comfortable - and because most systems can heat as well as cool, it earns its place all year round.

Modern air conditioning units are air-to-air heat pumps. They move heat out of a room to cool it, and reverse the process to warm it - an efficient complement to your main heating. Air-to-air heat pumps can qualify for a £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.

How we work

Survey

We look at the rooms you want to cool or heat, where the indoor and outdoor units can go, and how pipework will run.

Quote

You get a clear, fixed quote with the recommended system, and we'll confirm install time and any disruption.

Install

Indoor and outdoor units are fitted neatly, with pipework and cabling kept as discreet as possible.

Commission

We test the system, set it up and show you how to use it.

Qualified & backed by warranty

Installing and working on air conditioning systems requires F-Gas qualified engineers, and our installs come with manufacturer-backed warranties. We'll explain the warranty on your chosen system and what servicing is needed to keep it valid.

Frequently asked questions

How much does air conditioning cost to run?

Modern systems are efficient, and running costs depend on the size of the room, how often you use it and your electricity tariff. We'll recommend a correctly sized system so it doesn't use more energy than it needs to.

Is air conditioning noisy?

Indoor units are designed to be quiet, particularly on lower fan settings. We'll position the outdoor unit carefully to keep noise away from bedrooms and neighbours.

Can air conditioning cool my home enough to lower the overall temperature?

Yes. Cooling the air is exactly what it's designed to do, bringing your home's temperature down rather than just moving air around like a fan. This makes a real difference for anyone who's more sensitive to heat, including older people, young children, and anyone with a health condition affected by high temperatures. Keeping your home cooler during hot spells can support better sleep and general wellbeing when the weather turns.

Can air conditioning heat my home in winter?

Yes - most modern systems are heat pumps that can heat as well as cool, making them a useful source of warmth for the rooms they serve.

How much does air conditioning cost to install?

A single wall mounted unit serving one room typically costs between £1,500 and £3,500 installed. A multi-split system serving three or four rooms from one outdoor unit usually runs from £3,500 to £6,000, with each additional indoor unit adding roughly £800 to £1,200. The variable is almost always the pipework: how far it has to travel between the indoor units and the outdoor unit, and how accessible the route is. We quote a fixed price after looking at the property.

How long does installation take?

A single split unit is usually one to two days. A multi-split system takes two to four days, depending on the number of rooms and the pipe routes. Most of the work is running pipework and electrics rather than fitting the units themselves.

Can I get a grant towards air conditioning?

Possibly. Since July 2026, air-to-air heat pumps have been eligible for a £2,500 grant under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, provided the system genuinely provides space heating as well as cooling and the property meets the scheme's conditions. A cooling-only system does not qualify. We are MCS certified, so we can tell you at survey stage whether your installation is eligible and handle the application if it is.

Do I need planning permission for the outdoor unit?

Usually not, but it hinges on one detail: permitted development rights only apply if the system provides heating as well as cooling. A cooling-only unit needs planning permission. Beyond that there are limits on the size of the unit, how many you can have, and where it can go, including a restriction on roof positions. Listed buildings are excluded from permitted development altogether, and conservation areas have extra rules about elevations facing a highway. Both are common across the Cotswolds, so we check with the local planning authority before quoting rather than after.

Does air conditioning need servicing?

Yes, annually. Filters need cleaning, refrigerant levels and electrics need checking, and under F-Gas regulations systems need to be maintained properly. Annual servicing is also normally a condition of the manufacturer warranty, so skipping it can cost you more than it saves. We can set up an annual service when we install.

What warranty do the systems come with?

Manufacturer warranties on domestic air conditioning typically run three to five years, and some manufacturers extend that to seven when the system is installed by an accredited installer and registered. Almost all of them make annual servicing a condition. We will tell you the exact warranty for the system we are quoting, and our own workmanship is guaranteed on top.

How much mess does the installation make?

Less than people expect. The main work is drilling a core through an external wall for the pipework and running a dedicated electrical supply. We agree the pipe route and the outdoor unit position with you before we start, use dust sheets throughout, and clear up at the end of each day.
