Boiler services for gas, LPG & oil

Installation, replacement, annual servicing, safety checks and breakdown repair - for mains gas homes and off-grid rural properties across the Cotswolds.

Gas boilers

For homes connected to mains gas, a modern gas boiler is still the most popular way to run heating and hot water. We handle new boiler installation, boiler replacement and boiler repair on all the major brands, including Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal and Baxi. Whether a combi boiler is needed for a smaller home, a system boiler to feed a hot water cylinder, or a regular (conventional) boiler for a property with a traditional heating layout, we'll advise on the right boiler for your home, your water pressure and the number of bathrooms.

LPG boilers

For off-grid rural homes with no mains gas supply, an LPG boiler is one of the most common and cost-effective heating options. LPG boilers work in much the same way as gas boilers, so the same choice of combi, system and regular models can be possible, along with reliable heating and hot water. Our Gas Safe registered engineers handle LPG boiler installation, servicing and repair, and can advise on replacing an ageing LPG boiler with a more efficient modern unit.

Oil boilers

Oil boilers are widely used in off-grid homes across the Cotswolds where there's no mains gas connection. We install, service and repair both internal and external oil boilers, and work with trusted brands such as Worcester Bosch, Grant and Warmflow. If your oil boiler is coming to the end of its life, we can talk you through your options, from a like-for-like oil boiler replacement to switching to a lower-carbon air source heat pump, and whether you qualify for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.

Repair or replace?

If your boiler has broken down, it isn't always obvious whether to fix it or start again. Most boilers last around 10 to 15 years with regular servicing. As a rough guide:

  • Repair usually makes sense for a younger boiler with a one-off fault and parts that are still available
  • Replace is worth considering if the boiler is older, breaking down often, or parts are hard to find
  • Upgrade could cut your running costs if your current boiler is inefficient or oversized

We'll always give you an honest recommendation and a fixed price.

Brands, warranties & trust

We install boilers from leading manufacturers, including Worcester Bosch. Manufacturer warranties on new boilers usually range from 2 to 15 years, depending on the brand, model tier and who installs it:

  • Budget/entry-level combi boilers: 2-5 years
  • Mid-range models: 5-10 years
  • Premium models, especially when installed by an accredited installer: 10-15 years

The length is rarely fixed. It can depend on:

  • Registration - most warranties are void unless registered with the manufacturer within 30 days of installation
  • Annual servicing - nearly all manufacturers require the boiler to be serviced every 12 months by a Gas Safe registered engineer, with proof kept, or the warranty is invalidated
  • Genuine parts - using non-approved parts for repairs can affect the cover

How extended warranties generally work

An “extended warranty” usually means one of two things:

  1. A longer manufacturer warranty at point of installation - some manufacturers let you pay a bit more, or use an accredited installer, to get a longer term than the standard warranty on that model (e.g. 5 years standard, extendable to 10 or 12).
  2. A separate paid extended warranty or protection plan - bought either from the manufacturer, the installer, or a third-party provider, to extend cover once the original warranty is nearing its end. These usually work like an insurance policy:
    • An annual or monthly premium
    • Covers parts and labour for breakdowns, sometimes with a call-out limit per year
    • May include an annual service as part of the package
    • Often has exclusions (e.g. pre-existing faults, sludge or limescale damage, boilers never registered for warranty)
    • Some are tiered - parts only, parts and labour, or full cover including work like power flushing

Frequently asked questions

How much does a new boiler cost?

Most gas combi replacements fall between £2,500 and £4,000 fitted, with the average sitting around £3,000. A system boiler is typically £3,000 to £4,500, and converting from a regular or system boiler to a combi runs to around £4,000 because of the extra pipework involved. Oil boilers sit a little above the gas equivalents. What moves the figure is the type of boiler, where it is going, how much pipework changes and the warranty length you want. We quote a fixed price after seeing the installation, not over the phone.

There is more detail in our guide, How much does a new boiler cost, and what affects the price.

How often should my boiler be serviced?

Once a year. An annual service keeps your boiler running safely and efficiently, can catch small problems early, and is usually a condition of the manufacturer's warranty.

What does a boiler service include?

We inspect and clean the key components, check the boiler is burning correctly and safely, test controls and safety devices, and look for signs of wear or leaks. We'll let you know about anything that needs attention.

Do you work on LPG and oil boilers as well as gas?

Yes - we install, service and repair gas, LPG and oil boilers, including external oil boilers common in rural homes.

How long is a boiler warranty?

Most new boiler warranties run from 2 to 15 years, depending on the manufacturer, the model and who installs it. Budget boilers typically come with 2 to 5 years’ cover, mid-range models with 5 to 10 years, and premium boilers can offer up to 12 or 15 years when fitted by an accredited installer.

Why do some installers get longer warranties than others?

Manufacturers reward boilers fitted by their accredited installer network with longer cover than a standard installation. We’re an accredited installer for [brand names], so your boiler warranty is often longer than if you’d used a general engineer.

What do I need to do to keep my warranty valid?

Two things, without fail:

  • Register the boiler with the manufacturer within 30 days of installation
  • Book an annual boiler service with a Gas Safe registered engineer and keep the paperwork

Miss either of these and most manufacturers will void the warranty, even if the boiler is still within its cover period.

What’s the difference between a warranty and boiler cover?

A warranty is free and comes with the boiler from the manufacturer for a fixed number of years. Boiler cover (sometimes called a service plan or protection plan) is a separate paid policy, usually bought once the manufacturer warranty is close to running out, that covers breakdowns, parts and labour for an ongoing fee.

Can I extend my boiler warranty?

Sometimes. A few manufacturers let you extend the standard warranty at the point of installation, usually by using an accredited installer or paying a small uplift. Once the original warranty has ended, an extended warranty then usually means moving onto a paid annual cover plan instead.
